Flower exhibitions have always taken an important place in our history. In 1933, Jan de Wit was one of the founders of the Westfriese Flora (later known as Holland Flowers Festival). This large, annual flower exhibition took place in February and our company was a participant for 75 years. We have won several prizes at this exhibition, including the Silver Boat award and the Silver Tulip award, which are respectively the first prizes for the entire flower arrangement and for the tulip arrangement.
Furthermore, we are one of the few companies that have participated in all six editions of the Floriade, which is an A1 horticultural world exhibition that is held every ten years. Our first contact with Japan was made during the Floriade in 1960. We won the golden medal for the best new tulip assortment at the Floriade in 1972, which was awarded by Her Royal Majesty Queen Juliana. In 1993, we took part in the third China National Flower Fair in Beijing, and in 1997 in the fourth China National Flower Fair in Shanghai. For the latter we also supplied the tulip bulbs and planted them in the park.
We have been an official exhibitor of the Keukenhof since 2008. The Keukenhof is a 32-hectare park that showcases the Dutch ornamental flower industry. The park exhibits more than 7 million tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses, lilies and other bulbous flowers in beautifully landscaped fields. It annually draws about 1,000,000 visitors from all over the world, and therefore is one of the main tourist attractions of the Netherlands. Will you visit the park soon to admire our flowers?
Our flowers are also exhibited during the ‘Vaktentoonstelling’ (English: Trade Exhibition) of Proeftuin Zwaagdijk (English: Experimental Garden Zwaagdijk). This annual exhibition takes place in February. You can visit a large bulb flower show during the Vaktentoonstelling, but it is also a trade fair for companies in the flower bulb sector.
